Errr... have you actually read Keil's licence terms?

Like it or not, I think you'll find that he has actually give a pretty accurate summary: once your annual fee expires, you are no longer entitled to upgrades or support - without payment of a further fee. :-(

It is, in fact, getting like that - when you "activate" (or whatever the term is) your XP licence, Microsoft record certain details about your PC (eg, MAC address, HD serial No) - if you change/upgrade these, you have to repeat the "activation" process.
You have a certain number of no-questions-asked "(re-)activations", but I don't know what happens after that...
