#130784 - What is the easiest way of measuring Bit width? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I am basically trying to snoop onto data that is going from RS232 to RS485 bus. I want to build in a capability to block data going onto the RS485, based on some decisions in micro, which I can do by blocking off transmit enable.
If I should really drive Transmitter both during 0 and 1 bits, then I should know the character period, by measuring bit width. Is there any way I can do that without my micro software getting involved? When the baudrate is fixed, it is easy. But if it has to have autobaud capability, how to implement the same? I don't like DIP SWITCH/EEPROM based bit width programmability, which I have used earlier. I want to make it plug and play! KG |
