#132503 - Interfacing 8051 to Voice Modem
Hello again guys, this is the second time i am asking for help here and the first time was a huge success thanks to everyone who helped me :)

Here's my current situation :

My objective is to accomplish DTMF dial up and then transmit voice to the receiver since the connection is established.

1. I am trying to interface my AT89C51ED to a conventional old serial 56k modem through RS232 and sending AT command from there. Yes, i already have the AT Command set for this modem chipset which is Lucent Venus. Is this feasible? Since the modem is quite bulky and i thought there might be a more appropriate way to implement this.

2. I have searched around forum and came across 2 dialer chips which is MT8880 and TEA1062. As far as i am concerned, MT8880 does not support voice transmission, am i wrong? However, i am quite interested about TEA1062 though, but i have absolutely no idea how to use the chip yet. I was understood that it is supposed to be used along with the MT8880 which in turn send the DTMF signal to TEA1062? Am i right?

3. I would like to know a comparison between this 2 methods. Which are simpler to be implemented, in term of ease of programming and interfacing (Oh yes, i am using C Programming btw, not ASM). How should i proceed from there? Any hints/clue are very welcomed, even brief one!

Please advise me! Thank you very much!
