#138874 - The worst example of backwards power Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I think Mostafa probably has the answer(s)he needed so I don't mind too much hijacking the thread by sharing with you all a real bad case of "backwards power supply".
I was working as a student for the US Dept. of Defense at the China Lake Naval Weapons Center in California and shared an office with another "trainee" who was tasked with the job of testing a prototype CCD tracker built by Hughes Aircraft for the Navy. This was 35 years ago and the tracker was made from hundreds of TTL chips on a system that was 3 feet long and had a diameter of about a foot. Yes... he connected the 5V 30 amp power supply backwards and I had the distinction of seeing and smelling the results and hearing his expletive as $30,000 of taxpayer's money went up in smoke as the prototype fried. In today's dollars this was probably worth about $250,000. So Mostafa don't feel bad - be happy. Regards, Bert |
