Well, I think, NXP simply took what SST had ready at that time... But, nevertheless, I thought more on it; and I think the "autobaud-until-timeout" method can be improved at least a bit - if after the successful autobaud the bootloader expects a certain sequence of bytes and would exit from boot to user code upon receiving anything else...

Of course, the "certain sequence" would be set so that it matches the typical action of FM after autobaud, so that this makes no work for Andy...
