#144704 - If you would only have read carefully,...
Responding to: ???'s previous message
...then you would have noticed, that in the documents listed in the link I gave you, not even once the STK-200 is mentioned! Neither in the "AT89ISP cable software" and associated documents, nor in the "AT89ISP programmer cable" manual!

You would also have noticed, that the 12V programming voltage is only aplied in the parallel mode, but not in the serial mode. This makes sense, because ISP means something like "in system programming", so that an additionally used 12V supply only for the programming would be rather stupid.

The STK-200, if you would only have done a little Google search, is an evaluation board from ATMEL. Like the STK-500. Both allow the programming of AT89S51. But are not compatible. Both need their own programming software and have a hardware dongle, which make them incompatible.

The "AT89ISP cable" from the link I gave you, on the other hand, is a plain programming tool, not an evaluation board! It's suited to program an already soldered-in AT89S51, like shown in this example project:

Again, it needs its own hardware and software and is neither compatible with the STK-200 software, nor STK-500 software.

The "AT89ISP cable" contains this circuitry:

The shown 74VHC244 must not be exchanged by any 74HCMOS chip! Read the according datasheets why.

Again, keep your fingers off the many non tested AT89ISP programmers from the web, but buy the original Atmel's "AT89ISP cable" and follow the instructions given in my earlier link.
