Hi guys! First of all, this is my first post and i wanted to start saying how much i love this site. The reason this is my first post is just coz english is not my first language and its hard for me to write properly specially with technical stuff and second im a noob with 8051, but finally im posting to learn from you guys.

You can easily see that this community helps itself in writing new code and creating new hardware in a way, that is surprising!

Now to the subject of my post:

Im in the university(4th year, here in mexico is diferent i dont know if its collage or grad or what, anyway...) taking a 8051 basic class and i need to do a final proyect. So... this is not a pls make me my proyect coz im lazzy kinda post, its exactly the oposite. My teacher is handling out the proyects and all of them are quite simple(display a couple of stuff on a lcd, or display some chars from a 4*4 keyboard on a 7-seg). But as i always try, i want to make something i actually like or i would use.

So i spended all day long lurking in this forums trying to get ideas. I want to do something that is not alredy there like just download and copy stuff and there you go... so ive come with 2 ideas, i wanted to ask you guys on how plausible is it really to do the first one(i know i can do the second one) and if you think is plausible for me to do it... to help me start up getting some info.

So what are my ideas:

(the one i need feedback and plausability hehe): Using a 8051 to read packets from a PCIMA(or PCMCIA) wifi card and display them in a lcd.

Or.... let a 8051 use some LAN cable (ethernet) to update a html file in a ftp server(i know a lot of packets i just dont know of 8051 and interfacing with other hardware but the tutorial here about ethernet makes me think i could replicate some stuff and get working right away)

I know my english is not good(actually i read and undertand fully i just dont practice writing that much) so sorry about that. And i know theres a lot of talking about pci and pcmcia and how it is not really cost effective but at the end i dont care about paying 15 bucks in the interface coz of course this is just going to be 1 proyect right. Also i am a quick learned but pls point me everything out like if i dont know anything, that way i wont have to re-post with silly questions and i wont fell that bad!
