My teacher is handling out the proyects and all of them are quite simple(display a couple of stuff on a lcd, or display some chars from a 4*4 keyboard on a 7-seg). But as i always try, i want to make something i actually like or i would use.

First of all, congratulations on that excellent attitude!

BTW i have 4 weeks to do this proyect and i could say i can invest 30-40% of my time in it.

So you actually only have about a week and a half available for this project - there could be a clue here as to why your teacher is only handing out "simple" projects.

Although it's commendable to want to do better, you need to balance this against the risk of taking on too much, and not being able to complete it in time, or doing stuff that won't actually earn extra points in the assessment...

It might be better to do the simple project really well than to get bogged down in something overcomplicated.

Have you discussed this with your teacher? He/She will be familiar with the course requirements, and will know what may and may not be worthwhile in earning you extra points in this project...

Interfacing PCI or PCMCIA certainly sounds a bit ambitious for 1.5 weeks - you would at least want to follow Russell's suggestions about the Lantronix modules...

I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, but your first priority at this stage does need to be to concentrate on the course requirements
