#147474 - NO, it is NOT Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Basically RS485 is balanced RS232.
NO, it is NOT - 232 is full duplex, 485 is half duplex (coming to think of it - what a stupid name "half double"). Full duplex differential is RS422. balance resistors for protection on the lines that go off-board. NEVER in my life have I heard of "balance resistors for protection" for 485, 485 does require termination but no "resistors for protection" can be inserted without violating the standard. Of course if you use 485 transceivers and go J1708, that is another story, but that is not 485. The RS485 connectors are RJ45's. I have seen virtually any connector used for 485 AFIK there is no standard. Erik |
