#147479 - Full Duplex - half duplex Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I'm sorry Mr. Bij. It seems I have attracted a posting-bully. You asked for help on RS485. Mr. Melon is right about RS485 not being full duplex, however, it is still a balanced signal and meant travel farther than RS232.
Balance resistors are not meant for termination or current limiting they're meant to maintain a DC balance between the +/-Tx and +/-Rx lines and no they do not violate any part of the RS485 standard. The RJ45 connector is what I use. It's convenient and reasonably tough...and small and CAT5 (twisted pair) cable lends itself quite nicely to connect with things far off as long as you're mindful of the twisted pairs. You may, of course, use any connector that suits your needs. If you want to know more about the standards so you can plan better this is a good place to start. http://www.hw-server.com/docs/rs485.html My offer of a schematic example still holds. |
