Erik is right they can be rather finicky
I never said "they can be rather finicky" I said "they are rather finicky" For 'finicky' read "a load of crap".

Not only do you never know if a connection is made (non-intermittent) but they introduce inductances and capacitances that makes todays fast risetimes 'sing'.
