"slightly less than mass" is what I had in mind.

I was thinking of something like an 89LPC903. 3 of the 8 pins are used to program the thing. That would seem to mean that 3 jumpers or something like that would need to be put on the board. That does not sound very convenient.

If a larger chip was used and those programming pins were dedicated to an SPI interface to other chips during normal operation, test points might be all you need.

But I was thinking about the programming pins being connected to hardware that would interfere with ICP.
