However, do not add capacitance to the MCU pin - that is the wrong way to go
I would never connect the pulses directly to the uC, I'd use a schmitt, which would alleviate all concerns about the capacitor. However if it is essential (can't see why) to go directly to the uC, it is possible to filter out the results of the input working briefly in the "grey zone".
