#151571 - thank you Kai Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Kai, thank you for the extremely informative post. This ABS project has been my first exposure to uC's so yes, I absolutely did misunderstand but thanks to everyone who posted here, the fog is starting to clear.
I may be missing it amongst all the numbers but I wasn't able to find the absolute max rated sourcing or sinking current for my 8052 derivative in the MCU datasheet either. Is this something that *should* have been included? I'm sure I've been way too cautious and overly paranoid from the start of this project but considering the amount if time and work I have in the little prototype area of my eval. board, I've been trying to play it safe.....thus my wayyy to large a value in the current limiting resistor department. As for the pull-up resistor I'm using with the sensor, the value of 470 ohms was recommended by the manufacturer of the sensor. Should I go against their recommendation in this case? I currently have their recommended pull-up in the circuit, along with a 2.4k ohm current limiting resistor at the port pin and per my software test and a scope, it looks to be working great as is but if there's any way to improve the safety of the circuit, I would certainly love to do so. Thank you all again, Brian |
