#153744 - "Fixed Structure" Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Unfortunately what is supposed to be the fixed structure may not be fixed at all. Frame flexure, inadequate braces and substandard foundations could all lead to movement in the "fixed part" with even more introduced but the weight of a heavy cable tugging away at it.
--------- <off topic> I read yesterday that elevators cannot safely go up more than 1700 feet because the weight of the lift cables becomes too much. Supposedly go 3400 feet and the cable snaps. </off topic> Is anything truly "fixed"? Michael Karas |
