#158403 - Something to live with Responding to: ???'s previous message |
These are inconsistencies we have to live with.
I have seen worse. Just to continue with Freescale: How fun is it to work with a processor where D0 is the most significant bit of the data bus and D31 the least significant... I haven't checked if they do it for all their processors, but at least for some of their MPC (PPC) processors. I'm normally quite quick computing hexadecimal numbers, but performing arithmetic with reversed bit numbering does take a bit of extra time and care. The only thing we can really do is to very clearly document our assumptions/definitions so people with different mental views will catch any differences in terminology or concepts and take proper action. |
