As I recall the Audi issue was a floating Gas Pedal close to the Brake ( same level). This when American cars at the time all had big long floor mounted gas Pedals. Press the Gas instead of the brake the car goes, press harder it goes faster. But your foot feels like it is on the brake.

More of a note to any company that moves around the controls because "I think it would be better".
