I think the true story is that the market grows tremendously every year and the '51 usage grows as well. I have no doubt that the '51 market SHARE is declining but new '51 applications come up every day. I have had my hand in more than 1.000.000 units out there and so far have not had any incentive to depart from my '51 and XA mix. Why would TI which have been pushing their TMS architecture for ages suddenly start making '51s ?. Why did Cypress select the '51 architecture for their USB chips. Of course the answer to both questions - in the opinion of some - is that those multi-billion dollar companies are plain old stupid.
