----------------- Have you ever actually designed a telephone line interface that has been type-approved? I seriously doubt it, reading the above. Rustu Kaya kindly responds: -------------------------------- Well, I have been working for Nortel Networks for 16 years as MSS (Member of Scientific Staff). Our local Lab is still using the Line Traffic Simulators (which each unit provides 20KCalls per hour) that I had developed 6 years ago. This simulator groups are connected to the Central Offices (resides in Labs) which is called DMS, widely used particularly in North America and all over the world. I dont want to mention about other telephony projects I had taken part in like DSLAM, ADSL, etc. not to waste the readers time. The reason I wrote this, is to let you know that I have solid background about telecommunication and I stand by what I was writing in my previous post and to clear your explicitly indicated doubts. Anyway, all telephony questions are wellcome. Rob Klein wrote: ----------------- The only way to convince them is to make sure your product complies with the appropriate standards. Rustu Kaya responds: --------------------- Have you ever tried this? How was the read tape? I still insist in not to take such a challange if you dont have commertial plans for the rig you developed. A question of mine to you, what would you do if you are to make a circuit that have an interface to PSTN for an experimental purpose, would you try to take the approval of your TELCO? Is this as simple as to sent a mail from nearby Post Office. If Yes, you are in Paradise. BTW, the line cards in Central Offices are well protected, It was TELCOs request from providers to protect the line cards from any missuse of the line appearances at houses. Because they know such experiments are inevitable. But please dont run away with the idea that I am for doing any illegality, what I am just saying is 'use your circuits at your own risk' Rustu |
