An engineer doesn't use a sledge hammer to crack a nut ! Don't use your favourite solution, use the one that works best.

Servoing position of the mirror part of the system requires no advanced control at all. The trickiest bit is servoing the image. Though you could close the whole system round the image position, stability will be enhanced by having two loops.
