#30005 - RE: Laser animation
You can make a laser beam deflection with a Galvo motor. We have developed years ago a laser-engraving system (AutoCad drawing was printed on an aluminium surface and also on other metal parts possible). We used Nd+ YAG laser with 50 W output CW power.

Galvo is a DC motor with its rotor rotation angle proportional to DC voltage applied to it. With a rotor positin feedback and a suitable driver you can make scanning as fast as few hundred Hz and draw a live animated contures on a wall (like a running horse). A small and very light mirror was mounted on axis of galvo for the beam deflection. We used a standard PC for a DWG processing and driving two DA converters for XY positioning.

8052 interface is simple - a suitable high precision and fast DA converter (we used 16 bit DA). Select a fast 8051 or maybe switch to 251 or faster controller for real time processing and animation.
