I am about to do a projekt, which involves some serial networking. My inital thought was to use a 485 network, using the micros UART, and some simple protokol. I think I will have 5 or 6 nodes in the network, and dont have to talk to third party devices. The net is aprox. 100 meters in length, in a "mild" industrial enviroment.

Is it woth the effort to do it as CAN bus network?
I know as much about CAN bus, as I know about vitamin B12, or Xanta's sex-life: All most nothing.
