#38465 - RE: clock pulse ~ 1 Mhz - sharp edge Responding to: ???'s previous message |
well, I got curious and had a look
fall and rise timing with a 50pF load 4000 120ns HC 135ns HCT 15ns So, the 4000 and HC are about the same, the advantage of using HC is the likelyhood of them being available tomorrow. Another advantage of HC would be that, if you get in trouble, you can drop a HCT in. Of course, HCT is a different story, the delay is such that for instance you can use it as the ALE latch where the HC would get in trouble with the faster '51s. Erik Incidentially, while I do not remember the exact details, I once saw a non-inverting TTL gate with a resistor from output to input, it improved rise and fall and had a bit of schmitt trigger effect. I would not recommend this since it will overload the driving gate, but as a "saturday night last ditch to tide me over till monday" it might be worth a try. |
