most programmers wanting to test memory want to do so because "there is nothing wrong with the code, it must be the hardware". This is foolhardedly, if the memory is bad, I can only with great difficulty visualize something that works to some extent and still have a memory problem.
Once I were asked to fix a memory tester that actually worked. "The memory tester does not work, we have memory problems and the tester says OK". Of course the problem was in the code that "would work if the memory was good"

If you want to test memory, pop another chip in, if that show the same symptoms, it ain't memory unless you just happen to use a wrong/too slow/miswired memory.
