#39517 - RE: Interfacing 2Kx8 RAM to the 8051
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Thank you very much the numerous inputs. I implemented Peter's suggestion. It works fine with the simulator. I have just two led's to indicate the result in the real world, so I am not quite sure. I have first written 0c3h to all the locations (000h to 7ffh) then I start reading from 000h to 7ffh, checking if the written data is the same as the read data. On a discrepancy, the process is halted and a LED is turned on. Another LED is ON during the test and goes off when the test is over. the code is available <HTML> <body> here </body></html>

is this test sufficient/good enough??

George,

"If there are not enough pins yet you can connect second 8-bit register to Port0." could you elaborate??

i was thinking of SIPO 8-bit registers. is that what you meant??

cheers,

Sushil
