#40468 - Interesting project for a student hint |
I have just decided to develop another project for the astronomy Centre As part of our long range plans, we want to put the observations and control of the bigger telescopes out to the 'net over a high speed link. We can't get ADSL to the site - its about 2/3 mile beyond the limit for the exchange, but we CAN bounce Wi-Fi 802.11 down to a local farmhouse that IS in range for ADSL. Only it not in line of site, so we need a relay. Only there is no way we can get power to the relay. And the wi-fi sets take around 3 Watts a piece (unless anyone knows better - that was estimated from the PSU) So we need a windmill, and various power supplies. There is therefore a great opportunity to use an 8052 to monitor and control everything. Anyone have any tame students looking for a project ? Steve |
