I'd probably agree that the Triscend device would be the way to go, but it's a private project, and I have to use what I have to hand for now, if all goes well then translation to a device such as one of the Transcend jobbies may be in order.

I'm very new to using CPLD's (I was hooked by the flexibility while using the PSD device). I still like this 2 chip (8032+psd) solution as it's flexible and I can change the mcu or PSD part to maximise the resources that I need for a given project.

My use of the Lattice part comes from the fact that I was given a Lattice kit for free, and I'm interested in learning new tricks and devices. So far I've only been using it with the schematic entry ( I did a little HDL at Uni but that was a few yesrs ago), I'll probably persist with this method for now, and then once it's working have a look at translating it to a HDL.
