Agreed, but ABS is still an improvement upon human capability even using the proper non-ABS technique.

2. I don't know if they shut down system... sounds like a good idea to me.

My guess is that its safer to shut the whole thing down when one wheel can no longer be controlled for ABS operation.

If they attempted partial ABS shutdown maybe by axle, they be making a predictive assumption about the conditions of the emergency and code be making matters even worse. Cars can spin around and still recover as long as a computer doesn't redefine the operation of an odd set of wheel brakes.

The only safe assumption I can render is on 18-wheeler trucks. In that case a trailer axle-set could probably be left activated if the cab axle-set were disabled.

3. I don't know this either, except, on my car there is a low fluid detector and it does wire into the abs computer.

Yes, I drive an ElDorado and its brake fluid level sensor triggers an ABS disable prompt before it ever triggers a brake fluid level warning. An ABS indicator then is how I usually learn that my brake fluid needs to be topped off.

Personally, I think there should be some kind of eject button... if you're heading for trouble, just eject out!

I like the idea of using aerodynamic air-brakes. Of course you could never legally implement them unless you had an automated system to make sure no car was behind you when you deployed them.
