My understanding is that it is possible to run the IDE interface also in 8 bit mode. As you may know only the "data" path supports the 16-bit mode anyway.
Have you looked into this? If that were to work in 8 bit mode I would think you can save youeself a number of external chips (or a good sized hunk of CPLD). Michael Karas |
