Seems a heck of a waste to throw the entire computer into a fire when the problem is on the monitor. now you may be too young to remember typewriters ,but perhaps a little white out judiciously applied to the screen_-- seriously if the corruption just shows in one font then reload the fonts , change the selected default font, or if that still comes up in italics look at the registry. worst case back up all critical stuff and reinstal o/s . If you are like me you have a set of software that you use and have tuned that set to your operating system. this added to the learning curve for a different o/s will influence you. hth Terry
