such kind 0f protocol is used where varying rates, but i keep this in asyncrounous h/w category because there is no means of actual sync between tx and rx, if rx is failed, no chance of dtecting that. some sofware sync is implemented by the means of CRC and clocks. but here is software is involved.

am i right?
