Once while young and immortal (circa 1970), I rode my cousin's new Honda 750-Four, and missed a shift while accelerating. Of course I didn't know this until I'd grabbed a handful of throttle. After I got the trans back in gear and dumped the clutch again, I finally checked out the tachometer...it was dropping down to 12,000 RPM. And that was a few thousand above redline. No harm done.

And the new bikes are even more capable of revving!
