If you have good control of the location where the sensor is installed, then I would use a set of four or five IR beams across the path of where the car passes by. The IR beam paths can be about 0.5 to 1 meter apart and need to be collimated.
Other schemes could include: - A weighing system... - An RF-tag mounted on each vehicle (if you are detecting in a fleet type situation) Michael Karas |
