it was a MPU.

i think there is a differance in CPU and MPU. EVEN a MCU can BE a CPU.

right not to go for a 85. MCUs are there. 8085 results in big boards and large circuitury. some options are also there. like 8085 + 8155 (8755) reducing the external circuitury. if you will go for multiple use with external circuitury its better using 8085.
