The maximum number of LEDs that can be driven from a single port pin on an AT89C51 will depend to large degree on the following factors:

* How big of power supply you have...
* How good of deal you get on price of the LEDs...
* How long of schematic page you can draw...

Here is an effective design that can drive almost as many LEDs as you may desire.......
