Back about thirty years ago static electricity use to be a big problem for CMOS IC's. The manufactures found and fixed the problem's to the point it's not a big thing any more. All of the old ways of dealing with static electricity are really not needed any more. Consult some of the newer tech manuals for how to handle the problem of static electricity.
