Visit some Diamond or Gold exchanges in New York, USA or London, England you will see scales which get 21 bits of accuracy as standard practice. They have been doing it for over twenty-five years. This type of precision is nothing new.

To listen to some of the explanations presented they will have you believe the Earth is flat AND not round.

I would also suggest you not to forget about 60 Hz or 50 Hz interference. A good T notch filter as part of the power supply and front end of the ADC is a must.
