Well, the other criterion to take care is that we're going to produce million parts and the final product target cost is around 8$. Most of the cost if from mechanical and magnetic circutis. The microcontroller should cost less than 1$.

Currently in my microcontroller assessment, I've some quotations starting to 0.3$ for small chips to 2.7$ for the bigger ones.
Moreother, I've to take care about the manufacturer's impact in the automotive market.
Some customers doesn't want to hear about some manufacturers because they're not implemented in the market.
Well you can see that the criterions for choosing these chips are not only technical...
That's why the only manufacturers I've selected according to technical features, range of products, tools, support, manufacturer's impact and cost are :
- Atmel
- Microchip
- Motorola
- Philips if there was some relevant products


My prefered one would be Philips 8051 derivative but as no they have no parts able to fit my requirements, my second choice are ATMEL AVRs.
