I do appreciate your comments. I'm not sure it's really unsubstantiated because the items you're talking about are from my point of view to be considered in the manufacturer choice.

Which kind of bugs have you encountered in the chip ?

For Compiler, I've seen only IAR and IMAGECRAFT supporting AVR chips. I agree it's very poor.
I'll have more information following the meeting by the end of august.
