In the limit DC drives are nearly always better than steppers in terms of dynamic response and final accuracy. They also consume less power when not slewing. What happens if you lose step, because of some disturbance in your system ? In a stepping system you are doomed. There is no restoration to the original position. Hence you need feedback. Steve |
