You might also want to check that other interrupts
(specifically timer interrupt) are not interfering
with the DMX512 receive. The DMX512 Rx is
pretty time critical, as I am sure you are aware.

The solution might be to raise the Interrupt priority
of the DMX512 Rx routine, - the serial interrupt.
