#54338 - RE: Offending Remarks ! Do we require th Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Normally this thread would be deleted as off-topic, but it's something I was going to mention anyway.
As has already been said: When making a joke or posting something in humor what you find funny may be offensive to someone else. Even if you think it's obviously funny, language problems (yours or of the person reading) may make your message offensive to others. If there is *ANY* doubt that your humor will be misunderstood, put a :) in there so it's clear you meant not to be offensive. At the same time, if you are offended by something I would ask you do one or two things: 1) Ignore it in the forum. Don't reply. It's that simple. 2) If you are truly offended and you think the post has no place in the forum, contact Steve or myself VIA EMAIL and let us know. We'll review the post and if we agree the message is out of place we'll delete it. If we don't delete it it's because we thought the message was not sufficiently offensive in which case I'd ask you to just "grow thicker skin" and ignore the post. That said, I have been getting a little more aggressive with deleting posts and threads that are off-topic or which are unnecessarily offensive. And I'm not just talking about name-calling... a message that includes a needless attack or comment about someone is unnecessary, especially if that's the only contents of the message. Such messages and threads are now being deleted simply because they are neither funny, interesting, nor contribute anything useful to the forum. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
