Actually these circuits are not my invention, I borrowed them from a book called "Engineering approach to digital design" by Fletcher.
I also seen some crystal circuits similar to this one but using CMOS shmitt trigger inverters, i think CD4584
I think it is better to use a crystal oscillator because the manufactuere would take care of the amplifier design and you will get nice symetrical output waveform.
