#55557 - RE: external oscillator drive Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Mike is right of course. There is the right way to design a crystal oscillator, taking due cognisance of the properties of the device, and there are many wrong ways which can cause problems (every tried an overtone crystal)
It is not a matter of opinion. Just because a lot of people have used a crap design doesn't make it a good design. This is a professional forum, not a forum for hobbyists. As Kai, Mike and I pointed out the crystal circuits in processors are NOT derived from the "circuits of yore" , pointed out by Mahmood, but are based on Pierce Oscillators. Steve |
