2 others I can't guarantee, however, the Atmel one defenitely shows the identifier bytes on all 1051s, 2051s, 8951s, 8952s...... It never failed. The only problem with the Atmel programer is that it dosn't work with windows. There could be a problem in "your" Atmel programer. The ICs should be of high speed specially the 74HCT175.
