Here is a more detailed presentation .... The switching action needs to be ONE actuator per switch unit (a unit being one of the 5 terminal thingeys I drew in the original posting and at the top of the diagram below. The board I am working on will need some 32 of the switch units and so there is a great desire to get density and multiple switch units in a part.
It would be possible for me to build the board with a jumper post matrix as follows and install shunts in pairs across each row. This is compact and inexpensive but I think it would lead to a lot of confusion and errors when the installer has to get her/his hands and mind into the installation process.
