Maybe you would not want to put the diodes in parallel, but apparently it is possible to put them back-to-back (ie in series, but one diode forward biased and the other reverse-biased). As the current-limiting feature works if a diode is reverse-biased, the second one is forward-biased and does "nothing"... See below:
