Kai, I agree totally with the above.

Many "beginners" that start of in such a way (flying leads, wirewrap or whatever) that they will not succeed with their first project will never get beyond fighting a breadboard before they give up.

Do we really do a "beginner" a favor by saying "go ahead and make the muck" or is it not better to say "if you want to make this work you have to spend $50".

I appreciate that many "beginners" and "amateurs" are working with very small budgets, but is it not worth $50 more to succeed after you have spent $100 on the first bag of stuff.
