No...

I meant that if he wants to use a commercial flash drive, he's gotta get past Windows.

If he rolls his own (using a '51-based USB micro), he can have it enumerate however he wants, perhaps as a generic bulk device so he can use bulkusb.sys. Of course there's a bunch of vital little details to sort through before this actually works ...
