In reply to your points:

1) I'll try to do that, although I'm at the mercy of the O/S there. From my investigations, I think that the spacing is the issue. Unfortunately, if that is the case, that's not something I can vary on the system I'm interfacing to.

2/3) The crystal freq is 7.372MHz which gives a baud rate of 115187.5 baud - well within the 4% required for async comms.

4) No I haven't dumped the registers yet, but I could do that using the other serial port.

5) Yes I have checked the errata but there are no issues.

The next thing we're going to try is a couple of hardware mods as there is a doubt over the levels so that may be the root cause.
